D-701, Standard General Conditions—Progressive Design-Build, is the foundation document for the EJCDC progressive design-build contract documents. It defines the legal and administrative framework of the project, including the respective rights, duties, and risk allocations of the Owner and Design-Builder, and sets out the procedures governing performance and administration of the Work. Tailored specifically to progressive design-build, D-701 supports early collaboration, phased development of project scope and pricing, and coordinated administration of design and construction responsibilities under a single contract.

EJCDC includes the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Council of Engineering Companies, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the participation of more than fifteen other professional engineering design, construction, owner, legal, and risk management organizations.
