Prepared by the Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee (EJCDC).
D-512, Agreement Between Owner and Design-Builder for Progressive Design-Build, is a core agreement for implementing the progressive design-build delivery method. It is structured to support early engagement of the Design-Builder during project development, substantial collaboration among the Owner, Design-Builder, and Design-Builder’s Engineer, and deferral of final construction pricing until the design is sufficiently developed. Particularly useful for projects that benefit from qualifications-based selection, open-book project development, and a collaborative design process, D-512 provides a practical contractual framework for Phase 1 services, development of the final price, and, if agreed, transition into construction.
EJCDC includes the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Council of Engineering Companies, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the participation of more than fifteen other professional engineering design, construction, owner, legal, and risk management organizations.
