This Geotechnical Special Publication (GSP 34) contains 12 papers that identify the state of the practice in the analysis and design of pile foundations under dynamic loads. Papers from around the world address the issues related to the complexity of the response of pile foundations to dynamic loads such as earthquakes. Such topics as soil-pile interaction and the effects of liquefaction are explored by using such testing methods as shake table and centrifuge models.
