About the Author Michael O'Rourke, Ph.D., P.E., is a professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he teaches and pursues snow load research. He has been chair of the ASCE 7 Task Committee on Snow and Rain Loads since 1997. He is also the author of guides to the snow load provisions of ASCE 7-05 and 7-02.
