Michael O'Rourke, Ph.D., P.E., is a professor in the department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he teaches and conducts snow load research. He has been chair of the ASCE 7 Task Committee on Snow and Rain Loads since 1997.
