The 2005 Report Card for America’s Infrastructure seeks to inform the public and policy makers about the condition of the nation's infrastructure and how best to improve it. ASCE assembled a panel of 24 leading civil engineers who analyzed hundreds of studies and reports and surveyed more than 2,000 engineers to determine what was happening in the field. The report card evaluates 15 categories of infrastructure by assigning letter grades that are based on physical condition and needed fiscal investments for improvement. In addition, a state-by-state assessment summarizes the top three infrastructure concerns and key infrastructure facts for each state. With a cumulative grade of D, the 2005 Report Card finds that not much has changed since the previous report card of four years ago.
