Prepared by the Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee (EJCDC).
Standard Form of Agreement between Owner & Engineer for Professional Services covers the basic phases of services provided by the engineer (study and report, preliminary design, final design, bidding and negotiating, construction, and operation). It also provides for additional services that may be rendered to the owner upon the owner's authorization, the responsibilities of the owner, the period of time contemplated for rendering the services, payments to the engineer for services and reimbursable expenses, opinion of costs, and general considerations. The document also contains nine separate, optional exhibits and guide sheets, addressing such issues as further description of basic engineering services; methods of payment for engineering services and reimbursable expenses; duties, responsibilities, and limitations of authority of the resident project representative; notice of acceptability of the work; construction cost limit; insurance; dispute resolution; allocation of risks; and special provisions.
EJCDC includes the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Council of Engineering Companies, the Professional Engineers in Private Practice Division of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Associated General Contractors of America, and the participation of more than fifteen other professional engineering design, construction, owner, legal, and risk management organizations.
