Based on the Project Manual concept of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) and the 16-division format of the CSI "Manual of Practice," Guide to the Preparation of Supplementary Conditions is the most complete guide of its type ever published. Its contents include specific changes in the definitions in the General Conditions; an explanation of the proposed schedule of events, from the bid opening to the start of work at the site; a discussion of provisions of the General Conditions concerning subsurface conditions; identification of "technical data" and possible use of different language; an explanation and analysis of details of insurance coverage required to supplement the provisions of the General Conditions concerning liability and property insurance; a discussion of subcontractor and supplier selection; a discussion of various aspects of multiprime contracting; and possible different approaches to unit pricing work.
